FAQs

How often do you bake; and on which days?

Currently I am baking once a week, on Mondays. Pre-ordered bread and bagels are picked up at the Cafe Olli side entrance labelled “Event Space” from 3:30-6pm.

When can we order for Monday bakes?

Each Friday morning by 9am I update the quantity of which breads and bagels are available for the next bake. To stay up to date on the timing and see a bit more of the process, follow on instagram!

Is there a minimum / maximum for orders?

No minimums. Orders of all sizes are welcome.

How do you recommend keeping the bagels and bread fresh for multiple days?

Bagels and breads that don’t contain preservatives, dough stabilizers, etc. generally don’t keep for very many days out on the counter without going stale. My recommendation is to slice and freeze! It may seem counter intuitive to freeze fresh bread/bagels, but the sooner you slice and freeze them, the fresher they will be after the toaster. If you wait to freeze until they’ve already gone stale, you’re just keeping it in that state, but if you slice and freeze whatever portion you don’t anticipate eating in a couple days, you’ll be delighted to find how fresh they toast up.

What happens if I order bread/bagels, but realize I can’t pick it up due to a scheduling conflict, etc.?

All sales are final, but if you email me at honeybagelpdx@gmail.com ASAP, we should be able to figure something out so you can pick up the next day from me, or I can donate to a local non profit.

Why only pre-orders and no walk ups?

One of the biggest bummers when I had with the original Honey Bagel pop-up was when folks would drive all the way to Cully, wait 30 minutes in line, only to be turned away because the bagels were sold out. This online pre-ordering system eliminates that! Additionally, it’s a way to manage food waste by not baking a bunch of extra loaves and bagels that may or may not sell.

What bagel flavors are available?

Plain, Poppy, Sesame, Salt, Everything, Cinnamon Raisin, and Chopped Chocolate.

What about Cacio e Pepe!?

The Cacio e Pepe bagel flavor worked beautifully in my previous space arrangement since they already sliced mozzarella, but on its own, it’s quite a difficult and lengthy prep task to slice endless blocks of mozzarella to create the cheese crisp on the bottom of the bagel. The Cacio e Pepe won’t be kept regularly in rotation, but will be a special that I will put up when I have the time & energy required.

Are your products vegan/dairy free?

With the exception of the honey in the bagels, and the occasional baker’s choice loaf containing butter or honey (which will always be indicated as such in the description,) all of the weekly bread offerings are vegan/dairy free. All loaves baked in sandwich tins use a combination of grapeseed oil and a small amount of butter to grease the pans.
